Need a last-minute gift that still feels personal and thoughtful? Evopoints lets you send a digital gift card by email with a beautifully themed occasion design and a personal message — all in under 5 minutes. No shipping, no wrapping paper, no stress. Whether it's a birthday, a thank you, or a just because moment, your gift arrives in their inbox instantly.
Here's how our occasion gift feature works and why South Africans are choosing digital gift cards as their go-to gift in 2026.
What Are Occasion Gifts on Evopoints?
When you buy any gift card on Evopoints — whether it's PlayStation, Steam, Roblox, Uber, or Takealot — you can send it as a gift directly to someone else's email. At checkout, you simply toggle the "Send as a gift" option and choose from six themed occasion designs.
Each occasion comes with its own colour scheme, emoji, and celebration design. The recipient gets a themed email that looks and feels like a proper gift — not just a plain code in a text email. Here are the six occasions you can choose from:
The 12 Occasion Themes
Each theme transforms your gift card email into a celebration. Here's a preview of what your recipient will actually see in their inbox.
Purple party vibes — perfect for any age. Whether they're turning 10 or 50, a gift card lets them choose exactly what they want.
Golden celebration energy. Ideal for promotions, achievements, passing exams, or any win worth celebrating.
Fresh green gratitude. Show appreciation to a teacher, colleague, friend, or anyone who made your day better.
Bold romantic reds and pinks. For your partner, crush, or best friend — because love comes in many forms.
Classic red and green festive spirit. Perfect for Secret Santa, stocking stuffers, and holiday family gifting.
Academic indigo and gold. Celebrate their hard work — whether it's matric, university, or any milestone diploma.
Soft pink and blue pastels. Welcome the newest arrival with a gift the parents will actually use.
Warm amber tones. Help them settle into their new space with a gift card they can spend on what they need most.
Beautiful rose pinks. Let Mom know she's appreciated — pair with a heartfelt personal message.
Sophisticated navy and steel. Dad gets to pick exactly what he wants — gaming, tech, or a ride with Uber.
Elegant gold and champagne. Mark the milestone with a gift card and a personal note from the heart.
Classic Evopoints blue — clean, friendly, and versatile. Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that come out of nowhere.
How to Send a Gift Card as a Gift — Step by Step
Sending a digital gift card online through Evopoints takes less than 5 minutes. Here's the full process:
You'll also receive a separate confirmation email letting you know the gift has been sent.
No email? Send it via WhatsApp
Not everyone checks their email — but everyone checks WhatsApp. When you send a gift card on Evopoints, the recipient also gets a WhatsApp notification with a link to view their gift card code. It's instant, personal, and impossible to miss.
Perfect for gifting friends and family who prefer WhatsApp over email, or when you want to make sure they see it right away.
What Does the Recipient See?
This is where the magic happens. The person receiving your gift doesn't get a plain-text code in a boring email. Instead, they receive a fully themed occasion email that includes:
- 🎂 A large occasion emoji front and centre (cake, confetti, heart, etc.)
- ✨ A celebration header matching the theme ("Happy Birthday!", "Congratulations!", etc.)
- 🌈 Coloured confetti strips at the top and bottom, matched to the occasion
- 💬 Your personal message displayed in a styled quote box
- 🔑 The gift card code in a themed card with tap-to-copy, ready to redeem
- 📋 Redemption instructions specific to the brand (how to redeem on Steam, PlayStation, etc.)
- 🔗 A call-to-action button styled in the occasion's colour
It looks and feels like an actual gift — not just a forwarded voucher code.
Why Send a Digital Gift Card Instead of a Physical One?
Digital gift cards have become the most popular gift choice in South Africa for good reason:
No shipping delays, no sold-out stock. Your gift arrives in seconds, even at midnight on the day of the occasion.
No physical card that ends up in a drawer. The recipient gets exactly what they want: store credit on their favourite platform.
Forgot a birthday? Remembered Valentine's Day 20 minutes before dinner? A themed digital gift card saves you every time.
Send a gift to anyone with an email address, whether they're across the room or across the country.
No guessing wrong sizes, colours, or tastes. A PlayStation gift card for a gamer is always the right gift.
The occasion theme plus your message means it's not impersonal. It's a real gift with real thought behind it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I send a gift card to someone in a different city?
Yes. Since the gift card is delivered by email, it doesn't matter where the recipient is. They'll receive it instantly as long as they have an email address.
Will the recipient know how much I paid?
The recipient sees the gift card value (e.g. "$20 Steam Wallet Code") but not the ZAR amount you paid at checkout.
Can I send a gift card to multiple people?
Each gift card goes to one recipient email. To send to multiple people, add separate items to your cart and use the gift option for each. You can choose different occasions and messages for each one.
What if I forget to use the gift option?
If you complete checkout without toggling "Send as a gift", the code is delivered to your own email. You can always forward it manually or copy the code into a message yourself.
Is the gift delivered instantly?
For most orders, yes — the themed gift email is sent within seconds of payment confirmation. Some orders may undergo a brief security review (usually completed within 2 hours), after which the gift is delivered automatically.
Can I send a gift card via WhatsApp instead of email?
Yes! When you enter the recipient's details at checkout, they'll receive both a themed gift email and a WhatsApp notification with a link to view their gift card code. This is especially handy if you're gifting someone who doesn't check their email regularly — they'll get the WhatsApp message instantly.
Can I preview the themed email before buying?
The occasion themes are shown at checkout when you pick a design. The final email matches the theme you selected, with your message and the gift card code included.
